Dinner and a show

If you haven't had the pleasure of seeing Mr Barry Morgan in action, then take a look here, I promise you won't be disappointed!
The old bloke and I are heading up to the city to have a night on the town to help celebrate a friend's birthday.
Dinner and a show!

Hello sunshine!

Well, I was gearing up for another grumble about this cold old Spring, and just like that the clouds have cleared, the rain has stopped, and the wind has dropped!
It's still a bit on the chilly side here, but goodness knows, I am not complaining!
Perhaps I've conjured up some sunshine with the return of my favourite floral linen?

Yellow

Such a sunny, happy colour, it speaks to me of Spring!

Shameful admission of someone who sews for a living

See that tear in my chair cover? Yes, that's the one.
I've been walking past this for, oooh, about 4 months now.
I think it's getting bigger.
A stitch in time and all that.
Oh, and as a hangover from my previous career, I can't seem to get my library books back on time either!

In today's post

Three yummy balls of yarn.
Honestly, I had no idea at all that these colours would be so nice together when I made my order.

A small confession

I seem to be enjoying my Melbourne markets so much I've come home again without any photos to share.
A shame because we were so lucky to enjoy a rather nice sunnyish sort of day yesterday, and the market was looking good with lots of great stalls.
Coming back to Shirt & Skirt after a Winter break means catching up with a few people I haven't seen for a while, including Wendy June, and finally meeting the Mookah ladies. We've been at a few markets together, and so now it's great to know them by name!
My other little confession is that I've had these shirts out at the last 2 markets, and they're going to be popular I think.
That fantastic Ink & Spindle fabric is a pleasure to work with, and even nicer to look at!

Back to the Convent

Believe it or not, it's Spring.
That means I'll be making a return to the Shirt & Skirt market this Sunday with my friend Pia.
Looking forward to some sunshine (please!), something yummy from the bakery, and seeing some Shirt & Skirt market friends!

Full steam ahead

I'm having a busy week in the workroom!
Lots of new belts for my busy line up of markets.
It's always such a joy working with some new fabrics though, and there's a nice satisfaction in seeing the pile of finished belts growing on the table.
There's nothing like a bit of beautiful Liberty cotton to work with either!

p.s. it's just as well this weather is so b***** awful, at least I'm not tempted by the great outdoors.

Spring, and a girl's thoughts turn to....

How much I do love the Maribyrnong Makers Market!
What makes for a great market day?
Emerging from Winter into a beautiful Spring sunshiney Saturday.
Catching up with lots and lots of fellow crafty friends.
So much 'catching up' I didn't take a single photo!
Lots of lovely market goers, including some regulars who stopped by to say hello.
(Hi Louise, I do love your new cardi!)
Meeting up with Lauren for an exchange of handmade goodies. How nice is this?

And a little bit of shopping for me...my lovely heart brooch pictured above from mistress of the crochet hook, Michelle.
And these little gem like resin earrings from Amelia.

Back to the market!

My market free month is over this weekend, and what better way than to kick off a busy Spring schedule than at the Maribyrnong Makers Market.
I love this market, it's in the heart of Seddon at the Uniting Church Hall, right around the corner from all the great local cafes and shops.
I missed getting some earrings from Amelia of Milkwood Design at Magnolia Square, I'm not going to miss out this time!

p.s. I'm also very excited that Lauren will be coming to visit, we've organised a bit of a market makers' swap!

There's definitely a theme happening

I love a parcel in the post!

More fabulous spoons for my collection!
Thanks Anne!

And take a look at this!
A pendant made from a teaspoon, a birthday surprise from Pia, courtesy of The Spooning Society.
Don't you love that name?
With my post about the Electric Mavis lights, and all these teaspoon lovlies, I think I can feel some new inspiration brewing....!

Rainy Saturday with tea cups

Here in Frankie & Ray land working from home means that weekends are really just like every other day of the week....unless I'm at a market!
One of the things I do look forward to is the weekend papers, the big fat weight of them with their magazines and extra bits to enjoy.
During my meander through the Saturday papers over breakfast this morning I came across a little piece about these Electric Mavis lights.
I remember seeing these a while ago, and had forgotten how lovely they are. Now I've seen them again I've been walking round the house trying to find if there's a spot I could hang one, or two, or three...

I'm back, relaxed, and with a big list

Hello!
We're home after a really fabulous holiday.
The sun shone, the sky was (mostly) blue, I read 3 books and had quite a nice break from my technology!
Can I bore you with some holiday snaps? Is this the modern equivalent of the slide night?

I am partial to a Lighthouse. The Byron Bay one didn't disappoint.

Clarkes Beach. What a view, eh?

A day trip to the very lovely little town of Bangalow.

Oh my. This Bangalow emporium of all things kind of old and kind of industrial had my pulse racing.
If only we'd driven up instead of flying....

And our gorgeous home away from home in Bryon Bay, Frangipani Cottage.
So, now I need to turn my attention back to the real world!
I'm back in the workroom today filling an order for some tea towel lovelies for the Local Shop, some top-up shirts have been sent round to Flying Fishes, and great news arrived in my inbox to say that I'll be going to the Finders Keepers in October! Now that's something to really look forward to.
