Disconnected

No pictures today.
I am unhappily sitting at a public internet cafe.
My internet connection at home has died, it will be a week on Tuesday.
I am feeling oddly disconnected from everything....not to mention somewhat grumpy.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for a quick reconnection!

I love cardigans

Jo Sharp cardigan

A lovely customer, Louise, left me a comment yesterday asking if I could post a picture of a cardigan I knitted for myself. We had a nice chat about wool and cardigans and knitting at a market last year.
What an opportunity to bang on about my cardigans I thought!
I love cardigans. I do.
I did a quick count, and I own a dozen.
Yes, that's right. 12 of them.
I have 3 cardigans I’ve knitted for myself, 2 extra lovely ones from Luce Handmade, more than a handful of store bought ones , and a few special op shop numbers.
Is there any better garment for the Victorian climate? I think not. And there’ll always be room for another in my cupboard!

I knitted this cardigan last year from the pattern pictured above.
(nice green, eh?)
I’ve worn it lots, but not recently, so digging it out for a photo has got me looking forward to donning it again soon.

The labels in this favourite op shop gem make it all the more special!

More new stuff and off to Melbourne

I've been busy!
Which has been tricky with the glorious week of weather we're having down here. I'm fighting the urge to go and tidy up the garden, rather than knuckle down to some sewing.
Here's another new t-shirt for the cooler weather, which hopefully is still around the corner!
The first batch of these shirts and the red shirts are being delivered this week to Flying Fishes and I Dream a Highway.
Of course, I'll have some of these with me too as I'm heading back to the city for my first Melbourne market of 2010, Shirt & Skirt at the Abbotsford Convent on Sunday.
I feel like I've been away for ages, and I suppose it has been a while.
It'll be good to get a catch up with some crafty Melbourne girls, I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's Summer!

Gold, acid yellow, mustard...

Image from here

I'm finding a new colour favourite sneaking around the edges of things.
I'm noticing it everywhere.
Is it the autumn like weather that's having an influence on me?

It's found it's way into my work before I even really noticed.

Special order

There's a special joy in making something especially for someone you know.
This new tea towel cushion is going to my very good friend who hails from the land of the long white cloud.
When it turned up in my stash, I knew it would be perfect for her.
Not least because her daughter is nicknamed 'Pukie' (pronounced Pookie), short for 'Pukeko', a bird native to New Zealand.
There's a story in everything!

p.s. the party was fun, and Skenes Creek really is now 'home'!

A no market weekend!

Image found here

The old bloke and I will be packing a small bag tomorrow and heading off to town for a birthday party.
Yes! I am having a (gasp) market free weekend!
The party's going to be at the very grandly named Albert Park Yachting and Angling Club.
That's the building there on the left in that fabulous photo above.
Albert Park is my fairly recent stomping ground. We lived only 2 blocks from this very beach for more than 15 years.
While I have been back to the local shops several times since we've moved, this will be the closest I've come to our old house. It'll be interesting to see how it feels.
Will I be nostalgic? Sad? Completely neutral?
I have no idea, we'll have to wait and see!

What I've been working on

It's an odd time of year in the Frankie & Ray workroom.
The weather is still warm, but I'm starting to get going on goodies for the cooler months.
I'm having a bit of a flirtation with red, but green is still my favourite.

You'll be able to find these new lovelies at the next Shirt & Skirt market on February 21, and I'll let you know when they hit the shops too!

Tropical Tuesday

My word, the weather's been very strange down here in the south west corner of the state.
It's been warm, and humid, and kind of tropical.
I love February.
There's no wind.
The town is quiet after the January rush.
We've been swimming today with only a handful of other people on the beach.
I feel like I'm on a little holiday.
All I need now is a Campari with fresh orange juice and soda!

Afternoon tea time

White chocolate and raspberry muffin.
Half a piece of rhubarb frangipane tart (I have already scoffed the other half).
Made by the amazing Tana Nichols of Sweet & Savory, making her return to the Apollo Bay market after a year's break. Tana trained at the famous Tartine in Armadale, and oh my, how lucky are we that she decided to come and cook for the market here.
I did have a self imposed rule of 'no food on the blog'.
I have already broken it once to show you some local organic raspberries!
I did think, nobody's going to be interested in what I'm eating.
My apologies, but these are just too good...

Any excuse...

Remember my pre-Christmas wish for a new NancyBird?
Well, it didn't turn up under the tree, despite a few good hints...
After a busy month I decided that I should give myself a little present for all my hard work, and here it is. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and oh, it is lovely.
Lucky me!

New scarves

I know, it's only February.
Hardly cold enough for a scarf, but you never know when the fickle Victorian (or anywhere you may be) weather will turn!
Sally and I will have you all snug and cosy in a new scarf when it does.
Oodles of them to choose from up on GeorgieLove right now!
