A shirt a day

Ah, Liberty!

My favourite, I am so having one of these for my wardrobe.

Just a quick one today. I'm off to the city for a flying visit (but no market)!
But, I'm working on getting some more of these ready for my next Melbourne market on June 30.
Keep warm!

Rainy day

It's chucking it down here this morning. Wet, wet, wet!
I'm having a bit of a nostalgia trip back to those dark and gloomy, rainy Winter days of my childhood, when it seemed very special to be stuck inside with all the lights in the house on, the old oil heater burning, and nothing much to do but perhaps drag out a jigsaw puzzle or a board game.
Hot chocolate anyone?
I'm feeling happy to be housebound today.
A fantastic pile of much awaited Liberty of London lawn arrived in the mail while I was away last week.
There it is, just waiting for me to decide which one to use first!
I love how sometimes the one you think you'll like the least is actually the best surprise of all. For me it's that blue and limey yellow floral up there on the left hand corner....
I had a marvellous city break last weekend, I can't believe it's that long ago already!
And, seriously, if you haven't been along to see the Grace Kelly exhibition in the beautiful old city of Bendigo, get yourself along quick smart.

I'd heard stories about there not being a sense of the woman in the dresses on exhibit, but I couldn't disagree more. Nearly every dress was displayed with a photo of it being worn, and there was so much biographical information, I really came away feeling I'd learnt a bit more about this woman's extraordinary life.
And, I'm off on a hunt for my own copy of Rear Window - my personal favourite film of Grace Kelly's, although then there's a need to see To Catch a Thief again....and chase down High Society too.
Happy Friday!

Taking a trip

Isn't the year flying along already?
Nearly the end of May!
Things are getting quiet down here on the coast, and I'm slowing down a little bit too.
My regular Melbourne market is on this Sunday.
Yes, it's time for the Shirt & Skirt market once again!

This one will be my last appearance here until Spring comes around again!
With another lucky forecast for a sunny and mild day, I'm looking forward to a 'last one before Winter' visit to the Abbotsford Convent.
But, that's not all!
I'm mixing a bit of business with pleasure this time too.
On Tuesday I'll be heading up to Bendigo to see the Grace Kelly exhibition with some friends.
I've been looking forward to this for ages, and it seems like a perfect way to end a few days up in the city.
A mini break! And I can't wait to see this collection of beautiful clothing.

Off on a tangent

I never know just exactly when a new idea will present itself, or why!
Obviously, I'm on a kind of shirt roll, and the only thing to do is go with it.
I'm still waiting for my new Liberty fabric to arrive for the long sleeve shirts, so I had to raid my stash of smaller pieces to run with this idea.
I'll be honest, the different fabric yoke wasn't really part of the plan, but I'm loving it.
I made one of these up for myself, and I've only just reluctantly put it in the wash this morning.
Don't you love it when something new in your wardrobe becomes an instant favourite?
I know this is looking like a perfect little warm weather top, and it will be!
But, I've been wearing mine with jeans and a cardi this week, and it's been perfect.
I only have a few to start with, and I'll bring them along to the Shirt & Skirt market this coming weekend to give them a whirl!

It's perverse

I'm enjoying my slow week, but I'm still knitting!
And after a sunny and mild beginning, today is much more like Winter. Perfect weather to be curled up on the couch with the fire burning, and working with needles and yarn.
Scarf season waits for no woman.
Of course, now that I need to really concentrate on keeping stocks up, I'm spying images of all things knitted that are sorely tempting me!
Top of my wish list is this.

Although, I'm seeing a little fiddle with the colours and stitches....I think I fancy a chequerboard stitch for the yoke, oh, and something bright and happy like navy and orange, or two tones of green...it's an agony just thinking about it!

Then there's this
It reminds me of an Aran jumper. The non-colour and chunky cable is perfection itself, only made better by that button.
(via my lovely friend on Pinterest)
On a roll now.
How about this?

Not my usual colour palette, but I love this combination.
It reminds me of an old beach house, colours that might have been bright once, faded and bleached over time!

Or, indulging my love of cardigans, this.

But, being a former Melbourne girl, I've done a lifetime of black!
This would have to be in a bright red, or a soft french blue, or maybe even a mustard yellow...
Right, good to get that out of my system, I'll get back to my scarves then!

A breather

Hello and greetings from sunny Apollo Bay!
That's me yesterday, posing for the old bloke in the middle of a hilariously bad round of golf.
It's been months since we've been out together on the course, but the good weather demanded at least a few hours out of the house.
Just what I needed after what feels like months of busy market weeks.
I'm making plans for the rest of this week that includes pretty ordinary stuff like giving the house a proper clean, doing a little bit of gardening, and writing an overdue letter to my dearest and favourite Aunt.
It's nice to be taking a little bit of a break.
But, of course, there's always plans for making new stuff happening here too!
I had a last minute frenzy of shirt making before Magnolia Square last week, and the happy result has me waiting for some new gorgeous Liberty fabric to make some more...

In the meantime, I'll be making the most of this sunny Autumn week!

On the road again

I'm on the move again today.
Magnolia Square opens tomorrow morning.
Another of my favourite Melbourne events to be at, I'm certain the Malvern Town Hall will be brimming with gorgeous stuff!
Will I have a little splurge myself? I hope so!
